Flip Spot is a physics-based 3D stunt game that puts you on high platforms to perform jumps, spins in mid-air, and try to land precisely on the target area while standing upright.
The most appealing aspect of Flip Spot is how the game transforms a very simple action into a time and inertia puzzle. You don’t need to remember a sequence of control keys. Instead you need to watch the height, distance from the landing platform and how fast your character is rotating to know when to let go of the button.
Each jump is composed of three phases:
This structure makes all failures beneficial. You could end up holding the button for too long, not jumping high enough, or starting the spin too late. Then just try again and shift a minor bit.
Flip Spot gameplay is easy. Jump, flip in the air and land at the right position.
You are standing on a high platform and you need to jump to the area in front . To prepare, hold the button, and then release it to make the character jump. While in the air keep pressing the button to do the flip.
The toughest is releasing the button at the appropriate time. If you hold it too long the character will spin too much and it will be hard to land safely. If you release it too early, the flip may not be complete.
Look at the gap between the leap platform and the landing surface. The closer the distance, the easier the flip should be.
Press the control button and let go to jump the character. Try to change the jumping force in accordance with the distance in front.
While the character is flying, hold down the button to spin. You can extend it for extra flips, just don’t get carried away.
Release the button when you see the character’s feet pointing downwards to end the rotation. This is the time when it is most important to get ready to land.
The final goal is to get your character into the right area and keep him stable. Even the most gorgeous flip with a poor landing is a failure.
| Feature | Flip Spot | Turbo Flip |
|---|---|---|
| Genre | 3D Stunt & Physics Game | 3D Stunt Driving & Physics Game |
| Physics Mechanism | Jumping force, spin, inertia | Inertia, propelling force, vehicle motion |
| Doing Flips | Character flips in the air | Vehicle conducts aerial stunts |
| Skill Elements | Requires timing of stops; requires spins | Requires vehicle control; requires timing of stunts |
| Landing | Must land in the same posture to finish | Must maintain the stability of the vehicle after landing |
| Timing Accuracy | Timing accuracy is the key to success | Timing and vehicle control is the key to success |
| Retry | Replay leap to alter | Retry stunts to get better outcomes |
Biggest commonality: Both Flip Spot and Turbo Flip are on physics, control skills and time. Not only must players do the flip, they also have to regulate their movement so they land safely.
