What Is Special About Grand City Racing?

Grand City Racing gives the game a couple of directions to take, rather than a string of races one after the other. You can actually compete in races, try to beat the time records or drive around the map to gather money.

Racing Mode: Now The Real Race Begins

If you want to win, make money and test your skills against opponents, then racing is the perfect mode.

There are 10 races in this mode. Each race offers different reward levels, and you can participate alone or with a second player. On the track, you must compete against 4 opposing racers, so just knowing how to floor the gas pedal isn't enough to guarantee victory.

A good race usually starts with familiarizing yourself with the track. Observe the sharp corners, areas where you can accelerate, and areas where it's easy to lose control. Once you've memorized the track layout, you'll know exactly when to maintain speed and when to use NOS.

Tip: Don't use NOS right at the start just to get ahead. A well-timed acceleration on the straight after a corner is often much more valuable.

Challenge Mode: The Battle Against The Clock

Challenge mode offers a different kind of pressure. Instead of just focusing on your opponents, you have to worry about the remaining time.

You get four time trials in this mode, however the courses aren't set up like normal racetracks. Both routes have several unusual portions so steering and memorising directions is very important. The objective is simple: beat the clock to the finish line.

Here, too, your driving talents are put to the test. In Racing a crash that slows you down might not be serious, but in Challenge mode, a few lost seconds can be critical.

It's worth noting that the game's tutorial indicates that Challenge bonuses can be earned in single-player mode.

Free Drive: When You Don't Want To Follow The Track

Free Drive is the most expansive part of Grand City Racing. A large map allows you to escape the constant pressure of reaching the finish line and drive freely however you want.

The map features mountain roads, off-road tracks, stunt ramps, money stacks, and special circles. These aren't just places to stroll around. You can utilize these areas to earn extra money.

According to the released gameplay information, each money stack can yield around 200 to 400 coins, while performing combos through the circles can yield higher rewards, up to 800 coins in a single combo.

This makes the Free Drive a very useful area for both getting acquainted with the car and accumulating resources.
