Lately my lunch break has a new habit. I open a browser tab, load Blocky Rider, plan to play for ten minutes to shake off the sleepiness, and every time I run over. The game is entirely online, with nothing to download or install, so I can jump in whenever I have a spare moment.
Steering here isn’t harsh or slippery like in a lot of simple racing games. The bike is just heavy enough that I have to plan a beat ahead, so every successful swerve brings a small flush of pride.
Cars, buses, trams, and trucks can all switch lanes without warning. I’ve learned that looking far ahead matters more than quick reflexes, because by the time you need to react in a panic, it’s usually too late.
| Mode | Length | Goal | Best When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Race | Until you crash | Go far, stay alive | You want to test your reflexes |
| Demolition | 2 minutes | Smash as much as possible | You need to blow off steam |
| City | Free roam | Cruise the streets, try ramps, visit the airport | You want to relax |
Play long enough and ride far enough, and you’ll also unlock new motorcycles along with tricks like the wheelie and handbrake. I find that a great motivation to squeeze in one more run.
No. You play directly on the web.
Three: Race, Demolition, and City.
In Race, a crash ends your run. In Demolition, crashing is how you score.
A computer is the most comfortable, since the game uses the keyboard.
If you like light games where you jump right in and still have fun even when you lose, Blocky Rider is well worth a try. And once you’ve had your fill and want a change of pace with another driving game, you could check out Hustle & Drift in ZIL. When you’re done, come back to Blocky Rider and see whether your record has been broken yet.
